Day 30 Sunshine Coast

8 Sep

Last night we stayed at the park just about a km north from the ferry. We (I) decided to stay over and camp although we could have boarded the 3:50pm ferry. Awesome park and beautiful sites, we are happy we stayed over.

Sam’s favourite plastic cup holds juice, wine or scotch. This was the third night in a row that we slept without the fly on the tent. No rain, no bugs, no condensation, it’s great.

Our wee 2 man tent looks so small in comparison to one of the large cedar trees around our campsite.

Looking east, this is an unedited picture of a nearly full moon (98%) as it rises over Saltery Bay while the sun was setting behind me.

We both slept in and after a leisurely start were able to catch the MV Islander Sky ferry from Saltery Bay to Earls Cove. Beauty trip and we snagged a seniors $ discounted rate to load.
Lots of funky things in Pender Harbour and the community’s volunters do a nice job of providing services for tourists. Thank you.

We stopped for brunch and WiFi in Maderia Park at Java Docks cafe.

Great coffee and food.

Apparently someone actually reads my blog. WooHoo. We make wonderful coffee each morning using Starbucks instant and this pic shows the tools. The awesome wooden table is in our campsite at Saltery Bay Provincial Park.

Maybe Starbucks would like to sponsor our travels?

One of our next stops will be the small beach at Halfmoon Bay that I visited two years ago. It’s a special geneological place for me, although has some sad family history. I’m sure that it was the low point in the life of my grandparents, Miles and Myrtle.

We are now in the visitor center in Sechelt and going to the Tems Swiya museum.
