Day 22

1 Sep

I was up early and did some preliminary sorting of the 500 pics that I took at the wedding. Hopefully we will catch up with some of the wedding party still on cleanup duty at the venue and give them an SD card with some of my best pictures.
It’s also day 2 of a 31 day Icebreaker challenge test of my socks to test their anti-stinky properties. Sam will let you know how it works out.
We drove up the west coast from Sooke to Port Renfrew on the West Coast Trail. Wooser what a great motorcycle road; it was even fun in the car. The girls tried to sleep a bit on the return trip. Right, doubters, with me playing in the corners with the Subaru.

There was some rain but mostly we could hike to the beach at a number of locations and look for whales, which we never found.  French Beach Park is a perfect place for a picnic and a stroll on the rocky beach. Of course I found a few collectible rocks.

Later we walked in about 300m through the forest to Sandcut Beach. Wow, seriously big trees on this island.

We did see a sea lion and couple of otters at the wharf at the Port Renfrew Hotel at the end of the road.  We enjoyed a coffee and beer at their pub.

We also got a fresh salmon from a fisherman for dinner tomorrow night with our friends in Victoria.
