NEVA day 5

3 Aug

Most are packing to ride home. I will stick around and see some local sites and leave Monday with Alex.

The morning evidence, still warm, of a good evening sitting around a campfire sharing stories and routes.

Some of the local sites include the historic Hoosic railway tunnel, completed in 1877 and still actively used with trains everyday. At the time an engineering feat, the largest tunnel in North America and the project where nitroglycerin was developed.

I also found the central ventilation shaft, which is midway through the tunnel.

Great food, I’ve eaten two perfect dinners at the Golden Eagle overlooking the scenic view of the Hoosic mountains.
