” a rather blustery day today “

22 Oct

We had a very windy cold ride from the Finger Lakes NY area and a wicked crossing over the grated deck of the Thousand Islands bridge where we blown sideways. For anyone who hasn’t seen this bridge here is a good picture.   http://www.flickr.com/photos/jj8rock/2955647580/in/pool-22798623@N00/lightbox/

I’ve been over this bridge many times before but today in the winds, of approximately 25kts and gust to over 30kts, I was stressed. Being blown around riding 2-up and trying to keep the loaded Vstrom in my lane and avoid the oncoming trucks was a challenge, The steel decking reminds me of a cheese grater and I expect it’s an awful surface to fall onto and go for a slide.

Perhaps the highlight of our day was for lunch and the great food at the Sackets Harbour Brew Pub.
